What is FLOSS?
FLOSS is an evening spent zapping through multidisciplinary
contributions from the autonomous and applied arts.
A meeting place, a place for inspiration and irritation, where we are not
afraid to confront art's leftovers and ragged edges.
FLOSS organises evenings, alternating between Groningen and Leeuwarden, full
of exciting, serious, funny and sometimes also annoying contributions from
artists from all disciplines that are frantically seeking an audience.
Why FLOSS?
Our aim is to bring artists and visitors, from the northern region and from outside, into contact with each other.
In addition, we want to display things which, for one reason or another, are not shown in the regular circuits in the north of the Netherlands.
How does FLOSS work?
An audience, various contributions/items and a presenter who interviews the participant and takes possible questions from the audience or leads a discussion. Depending on the type of contribution and the discussion, each piece takes no more than ten minutes.
What does FLOSS show?
FLOSS is omnivorous and broad. A link with the arts is the theme running through the programme, but the main aim of each evening is to show: fascinations, border breakthroughs, passion, inventiveness and - last but not least - things that normally speaking would be out of sight of the viewer.
What we have shown and presented up till now has included poems, collections, drawings, fashion, video clips, slides and videos in every conceivable format, raps, architecture, live performance, software and so on and so forth.
How do I know when and where
a FLOSS is to happen?
FLOSS is held at different locations several times a
year, alternating between Groningen and Leeuwarden.
Naturally, you can use this site to find out when and where, but you can also
apply for an invitation via this form, mail your address + the message "Invitation
to FLOSS".
