An Ye Zhi de Jong is an artist and curator. In her work, she explores adoption, origin, loss, and the impact of bureaucratic systems on personal identity, using her own experiences as a Chinese adoptee as an important starting point. Through installations, video, and symbolic acts, she renders visible how official documents and regulations can deeply affect a person’s sense of belonging. Grief, the lack of choice, and the loss of a potential life play a central role. At the same time, she searches for ways to reclaim her own narrative and identity, beyond the meaning assigned to them by states and paperwork.
