Đăng-Vũ Đặng is an artist who explores in his work what it means to be part of the Vietnamese-Dutch diaspora. Working with film, performance, photography, and installation, he raises questions about cultural identity, family history, and intergenerational trauma. In doing so, he investigates how people navigate different cultures and political histories, and how they can reclaim control over their own identity. Objects, food, and family memories often serve as the starting point for his work, rendering visible how personal stories are interconnected with Vietnam’s colonial history and broader questions surrounding cultural heritage and ownership.
