In her work, Fleuri La Belle explores themes of identity, strength, and connectedness. Through amulets, necklaces, and Afro combs, she brings together modern and traditional materials—from Congolese wood to contemporary links—to tell stories of Black pride, cosmology, and the relationship to African roots. Her Dutch-Congolese background resonates throughout the work. The five necklaces refer to the stages of life, from birth to the afterlife, and form part of a ritual in which the wearer embraces skin, history, and ancestors.
