Hugo Tekstra (1992) is a visual artist from Leeuwarden and studied Fine Arts at Academy Minerva in Groningen. He creates large 3D collages made from leftover cardboard and paper, which he enhances with various materials such as acrylic paint, oil pastel, and spray paint. He often incorporates these collages into screen prints and risoprints.
For his new multidisciplinary project, Hugo is working on a series of cinematic sets that draw on his time as a pizza delivery driver in Leeuwarden. In the narrative, fact, fiction, dream, and memory intertwine in a crisscrossing way. Through this work, Hugo seeks to explore how, as an artist, he can grasp a world in which images sometimes seem more real than reality itself.
