Justus de Rode (1997) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam. While his work is rooted in photography, it also spans various other media. With a background in social sciences and film and photography studies, he explores how we perceive the world and assign meaning to what we see. Growing up in a family where painting played a significant role, he developed a strong visual awareness that is reflected in the quiet, painterly quality of his work. His practice is characterized by an attentive way of looking, in which everyday environments slowly transform into something alienating or deeply meaningful.
