Le Fou de Coucou

Le Fou de Coucou

In 1882, the clockmaking workshop Le Fou de Coucou was founded in the French town of Aubergine, becoming known for its idiosyncratic cuckoo clocks. After production came to a halt during the First World War, the concept was revived more than a century later by Aart Kramer and Irina Filtzer. Since 2011, Le Fou de Coucou has been based on Terschelling, where washed-up salvaged materials form the foundation of their assemblages: an ode to what the sea leaves behind and to the power of reuse.
