Uit in Huis x VHDG

za, 12 sep. 2026 - 12.00 / 17.00

Uit in Huis x VHDG

There is plenty to do at VHDG and Kunstruimte H47 during Uit in Huis!

VHDG @ ’T Naauw 6-8 (13:00 – 17:00) | Art Market & free workshops

At VHDG, a new edition of our Art Market opens: a place where emerging artists and makers from the region can present and sell their work. In between our exhibitions, we love putting new talent in the spotlight and giving artists a platform to share their work with a wider audience.

Fruit Preserving Workshop | 13:00 – 16:00 There are also some special workshops to take part in throughout the day. Together with spatial designer and maker Alexandrina Ciubotaru, you can learn how to preserve fruit. Her work explores how everyday spaces hold memories, rituals and cultural knowledge. Drawing on her background in exhibition design, research and storytelling, she shows how people shape their surroundings and, in turn, are shaped by them.

Her project, The Sour Cherry Kitchen, originates from the ritual of preserving sour cherries in their own juice, a tradition passed down through generations by her mother and grandmother in Moldova. By reconstructing this ritual, Alexandrina shows how kitchens can become spaces where care, memories and inherited knowledge continue to live on. From 13:00 to 16:00, you can drop into the kitchen space at any time and prepare your own preserved product using a family recipe. Everyone is warmly invited to join in and leave behind a kitchen memory of their own.

Linocut Printing on Textiles Workshop | 14:00 – 16:00 During the opening of the Art Market, you can also take part in a linocut printing workshop on textiles with artist Anne Hendriks. Linocut is a technique in which you carve shapes into a piece of linoleum to create your own printing block. During the workshop, you will design and carve a small lino block and print it onto fabric provided at the location. Of course, you are also welcome to bring your own clothing and add your unique design to it! This drop-in workshop takes place from 14:00 to 16:00.

Kunstruimte H47 @ Haniasteeg 47 (12:00 – 17:00) | Exhibition & performance

During Uit in Huis, you can also visit Kunstruimte H47 between 12:00 and 17:00 to taste two edible artworks. Inspired by cherished memories of Vietnamese family gatherings, artist Đăng-Vũ Đặng presents an interactive art and cooking performance: Consuming Love and Violence. Together, you will cut into the artwork, taste different symbolic flavours and enter into conversation with the artist and each other.

What memories and stories do these flavours bring up for you? And what are the sculptures actually made of? In this special performance, you can experience how history, identity and personal stories are woven into every bite. This performance is part of Minor Feelings: an exhibition about diaspora, memory and reclaiming Asian identity.

You are welcome to drop in at any time, take part in the workshop, experience the performance or explore the exhibition.
