What does home mean to you?

Workshops in the Vrijheidswijk

What makes a house, a street, a corner, or an encounter feel familiar? What do you feel connected to? And what makes you say: this is where I belong?

Come along and discover it together with city poet Marrit Jellema and workshop facilitator Behnaz Kamaei. Behnaz lives in the neighborhood herself, works as an activity coordinator, and is an artist. Using a photo you’ve taken yourself (of something or someone in the neighborhood), you’ll get to work with various materials to turn it into a piece of art. No experience needed, just the desire to get crafting and exploring!

What to bring: a photo you’ve taken yourself of a person or place in the neighborhood (on your phone or printed). We’ll take care of the rest!

Fotowalk 1st of October

Please note: on October 1st, there won’t be a workshop, but a photo walk guided by Siska Alkema (photographer) and Behnaz Kamaei. You’ll learn to see your surroundings from a new perspective. You can then use the photos taken during this walk in one of the subsequent workshops to work with various techniques. If you can’t make it to the photo walk, you’re still very welcome to join on the other dates. Note: please make sure to arrive on time for the photo walk and bring a mobile phone capable of taking photos, or a camera.

Gezond met Cultuur

These workshops are offered by VHDG Educatie as part of the Gezond met Cultuur (Healthy through Culture) project. VHDG has joined forces with artist collective Pink Pony Express to use art and culture to foster connection and well-being in the Vrijheidswijk neighborhood. Curious about the entire project?
