From September 8 until October 20 the SRV-car will travel through Friesland for the fifth time, this time with artist Bram Kuypers behind the wheel. For six weeks the SRV-car will be Kuypers’ mothership and mobile laboratory. The artist will perform research on the meaning and movability of the landscape and natural phenomena. Also will the journey embody a dive into the past. Though born in Arnhem, Kuypers has roots in Friesland, about which he hopes to find out more. That’s why stories by his grandmother and –father will determine the direction of his travel through Friesland.
Kuypers: “I’m looking forward to exploring the boundaries of what is and isn’t possible with this mobile working place, as well as the crossing of my own historical framework and scenic experience.”
The results of Kuypers’ work period will be displayed in an exhibition in Kunstruimte H47 in Leeuwarden. The opening on 26 October will at the same time be a festive welcome for Bram and the SRV-car. Everyone is welcome!
Bram Kuypers The artistic practice of Bram Kuypers (1989, Arnhem) consists of site-specific projects in which he looks for interfacing elements between structures, institutions, and fantasies with which we determine our spatial terms. During intuitive quests for facts and stories Kuypers is confronted by the multiplicity of the landscape and its users. In translating these findings into work Kuypers usually replicates objects and actions he came across in his search. By processing these in a new way the place he explored will be seen from a totally different angle.
Guided tours during the exhibition: 1, 8, 14 and 15 November, starting at 15:00 (you don’t have to apply). We also offer lunch tours and Friday afternoon drink tours. For these you can apply though email@example.com On November 15, we have a special Friday afternoon drink tours to close the exhibition in a festive way, starting at 16:00.
