On Sunday, April 7, Roman is organizing ‘Activist’s Routes’ and we cordially invite you to attend! After two months of research in Leeuwarden, we will make a bicycle tour through Leeuwarden together with climate activist Dirk Kuiken after which Roman will give a presentation on the role of artists in activism. We will end the day with a drinks.
The program consist of two parts:
14:00 – 16:00 hrs: Bike ride with climate activist Dirk Kuiken through Leeuwarden. 17:00 – 17:45 hrs: Presentation of Roman’s residency with contributions from activists he met during his research. 17:00 – 19:00 hrs: Drinks!
‘Activist’s Routes’ – the bike tour:
While cycling, we will look at the city of Leeuwarden from the perspective of climate activist Dirk Kuiken.
The places on the cycling route come from Roman’s research method on co-creation of an alternative map of Leeuwarden, through the perspectives of local activist residents, visitors and communities.
Presentation: Roman will give a presentation in our VHDG Local after the bike ride, about his two-month residency at VHDG. He will elaborate a bit on his research question “What role can artists play in activist communities?”. Through various research methods he used during his residency, he will share his findings with the audience.
After this, activists from Leeuwarden will share a bit more about their contribution to the alternative map they created as co-contributors together with Roman. Roman will conclude with an invitation to participate in a public action. This will take place on June 3 as part of the artwork he is preparing for the collective exhibition “Gemeentegoed” that will take place in July 2024. We will end the day with drinks.
